Innovation Week 2018

Nairobi Innovation Week (NIW) is organised by University of Nairobi and takes place annually.

Given the University of Nairobi's critical role at the centre of innovation ecosystem in Kenya and Africa, the University wishes to work with as many partners possible on a shared value platform to promote innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship in Kenya and the region.

2018 will see the success of the event bringing innovative startups and setting the innovation agenda, at it's fourth (4th) convention.

The first NIW was held between 3rd and 7th August 2015.

The second edition was graced by His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta between the 1st and 5th August 2016.

The third was held between 6th and 10th March 2017.


2015's Theme: Innovate and Prosper: Strengthening Academia, Industry and Government Linkage for Economic Growth.

NIW 2015 had over 700 delegates,

20 VIPs,

13 sponsors,

55 research papers,

over 50 exhibitions,

5 International guests and

5 pre-events.


2016's Theme: Patnerships for Innovations That Truly Impact People and Societies.

NIW 2016 had over 2,000 delegates,

13 sponsors,

20 research papers,

112 exhibitions,

over 50 International speakers and,

13 pre-events.


2017's Theme: Innovating to Solve Local and Global Challenges.

NIW 2017 NIW had over 2,500 delegates,

13 sponsors,

100 exhibitions,

over 60 International speakers and,


2018's Theme: Innovating for a Better Tomorrow
