Measuring Broadband Quality of Service – A Case of University of Nairobi

The quality of service is critical in enhancing user browsing experience. Low bandwidth contributes to reduced user productivity as well as inefficient utilization of information and communication resources.  On August 2, 2016, Dr. Tonny Omwansa, A senior lecturer at the School of Computing and Informatics, Director Computing for Development Lab (C4DLab) and the Chairman of Nairobi Innovation Week 2016 presented a paper co-authored with Mr. Charles Katua entitled “Measuring Broadband Quality of Services – A Case of University of Nairobi”. The presentation stressed on the needs of having metrics to determine bandwidth usage so as users can be guaranteed of uninterrupted services as well as increasing Quality of User Experience (QoE).

Others schools and departments that presented their papers include the Department of Plants and Crop Protection, School of Biological Sciences, School of Education, School of the Arts and Stockholm Environment Institute Bangkok (Thailand).

The Nairobi Innovation week which begun on August 1, 2016, will officially be opened by H.E. Hon President Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of the Republic of Kenya on August 3, 2016, at 1200hrs at Taifa Hall. All staff and students are invited to attend.
