College scores Top Position in Performance Contract 2015/2016

The College of Biological and Physical Sciences has scored top position, beating five Colleges to its first rank status in the Performance Contract 2015/2016.

The College's first position is based on targets set every year, running from 1st July- 30th June. The targets are based on seven categories, among them: Service delivery, Operations, Financial and Non-financial stewardship, National cohesion and national values and Corruption eradication. The College was previously ranked position two in 2014/2015 Performance Contract.

The remarkable improvement and clinching of first position was announced during a University Management Board (UMB) Meeting on November 16, 2016, currently being held in Mombasa county.

 

Among the operations targets include producing holistic graduates, research funding and publications in referred journals, besides global competitiveness and linkages; while service delivery looks into innovative service delivery implementation as well as resolution of public complaints. 

 

Activities included in producing holistic graduates involve student exchange programmes, student mentorship and training in soft skills, participation in outreach activites and guest lecture invitations. 

 

On the other hand, non-financial targets involves empowering youth, women and person with disabilities. It also incorporates provision of internship and industrial attachment opportunities in addition to safety and security measures in the College.

 

College of Biological and Physical Sciences has beaten five colleges in the University of Nairobi performance contract: College of Architecture and Engineering, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, College of Education and External Studies and College of Health Sciences

 

Principal of the College, Prof. Bernard Aduda, has expressed his excitement in a congratulatory message to all staff of the College, "Keep up the good work and maintain the first position. Kudos and thank you for your support!".

 

Performance Contracting in the College is led by Ms. Elsa Ouma, Senior Administrator leading a team of PC champions in every department. The University's Performance Contract is headed by Mr. L.Musyoka.
