Graduates excited during the 57th University of Nairobi graduation  ceremony held on September 22, 2017

Graduates of the 57th graduation have been challenged to be ambassadors better than their forbearers in generating modern ideas that solve contemporary challenges as they shape development with transformative leadership.

While equating a victor to one who is in an arena, the chancellor urged the graduates to strive valiantly, have a worthy cause; despite errors and shortcomings, they should envision the end result of triumph after high achievement and even though one fails, one ought to fail while daring greatly.

The 57th graduation ceremony at the University of Nairobi (UoN) marks once again the struggle, yet the triumph of the graduates’ celebration where 3,700 degrees and diplomas have been conferred. Out of CBPS 613 graduates; 6 Diplomas, 564 Bachelor Degrees, 33 Masters and 10 PhD graduates were conferred.

In total, 48 PhDs, 356 Masters Degree, 13 Postgraduate diplomas, 2,609 Bachelor Degrees and 674 Diplomas were conferred.

In her tranquil tone, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, the Chancellor of the University of Nairobi stressed on excellence by quoting Sr. William Geoffrey Griffin: ‘this world is full of people who do their duty half-heartedly, grudgingly and poorly’ carry out your duty in the world, as perfectly as you can”, she said.

Prof. Peter Mbithi's message to the graduates was an advice to apply knowledge gained, with abundant authority. “The society is looking up to you with a lot of expectations to generate new ideas to deal with contemporary challenges using modern approaches. This is the time for millenials to make a significant contribution in the society”, the Vice Chancellor emphasized.

Other graduating Colleges were Architecture and Engineering (732 graduates), Agriculture and Veterinary studies (430 graduates), Education and External Studies (478 graduates), Open, Distance and E-Learning Campus (1,298 graduates), Health Sciences (41 graduates) and Humanities and Social Sciences (104 graduates).
