School of Mathematics student (right) and a graduate of the first cohort of Ready to Work, an online training enhancing students skills on entrepreneurship, money, people and work skills receives Certificate of Participation from Prof. Bernard Aduda, Principal College of Biological and Physical Science, as Ms. Antoninah Moturi, from Barclays looks on. 

The first cohort of 150 students who have undergone Ready to Work skills, an online course training students on work, people, money and entrepreneurial skills have graduated today in a ceremony held at the College of Biological and Physical Sciences on September 12, 2017.

Ready to Work Skills is a partnership project with Barclays Bank and University of Nairobi’s Computing for Development Lab (C4DLab) that aims to prepare students and graduates for skills required at work.

Biometric kit to be used for registration of first years in September 2017. Each biometric kit contains a camera, a signature pad, laptop, tripod stand and a scanner

Four biometric kits have been handed over to the College of Biological and Physical Sciences (CBPS) a week before first years are expected to join the University. The biometric kits will serve four schools of the College and are set to provide biometric details of students upon registration. The Biometric kits will capture student details with the pilot project commencing with first year students joining the University on September 4, 2017. 

The kits will enable the institution keep track of the actual number of students at any given instance as well as enhance security owing to the student details available through their finger prints.

A fourth year student digitally signs on a signature pad in a demonstration on how biometric registration will be conducted for incoming first years who will be reporting in September 2017

All is set for incoming first years who will be the pioneer students to be registered using Biometric registration. The 2016 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates will be the first students admitted and registered using the Biometric system in September 2017, at the University of Nairobi.

The University of Nairobi has organized to mark the International Day
Against Drug Abuse and Illicit  Trafficking  at  the Chancellors Court
on June 23, 2017 starting at 9 am. 

Amongst other planned activities to mark the day, is a performance by the
legendary gospel musician Mercy Masika.
