                    INTRODUCTION

The Youth Agency for the Development of Science Technology and Innovation (YADSTI) in Kenya is an initiative of young scientists with an objective of promoting science and technology as a tool for development as well as creating the necessary link among the stakeholders of science through education and dissemination of scientific information especially to the underprivileged in the society.

Its core values are Professionalism, Integrity, Punctuality and Teamwork.

The lady lecturers in the college of Biological and Physical Sciences will
be having a meeting and sharing a cup of tea with the current 1st year
female students from the Schools within the College, on Wednesday, 14th
December 2011 from 3.30-5.30 pm at SPS boardroom.

This is the first mentoring and motivation session for these students this
year but second overall, initiated by the Women in Chemistry (WIC).

CBPS secures a grant to the tune of 7million from IRD (international Relief for Development)and the French embassy. The grant was won through a Lecturer attached to SBS , Dr. George .O. Ongamo. The research project titled “incidence of climatic change on agricultural systems in Kenya” will focus on incidence of climate change, an aspect of general global change on agricultural system in Kenya and is set to commence in January 2012.

Dr. Lilian Wambua of the School of Biological Sciences, University of Nairobi has been selected as a 2011 Award Fellow.

AWARD is a professional development program that strenghtnes the research and leadership skills of African women in agricultural science, empowering them to contribute more effectively to poverty alleviation and food security in sub-sharan Africa.

Over 70 successful candidates have been selected from a pool of 785 applicants from 11 countries. AWARD currently has 180 fellows in its program.

MSc.Climate Change is a new interdisciplinary course offered  in the School of Physical Sciences,Department of Meteorology.The Course is open to potential applicants from many areas of specialization.For more information,contact the school of physical sciences,department of Meteorology.
