Catherine Mahugu, Fourth Year BSc in Computer Science, School of Computing and Informatics,  and her and teammate Ella Peinovich, an MIT graduatestudent have won the Global Entrepreneurship Competition - Technology Prize
worth $10,000.

The Department of Physics in conjuction with the Solar Energy Research Group invites applicants for shortcourses in solar photovoltaic installation and maintenance, which will take place at the Department of Physics, Choiromo Campus, University of Nairobi in April 2012. Application form is in the Related File attached.

SCOPE OF TRAINING:

The training will cover
  • Basics of solar electricity
  • Site survey and sizing
  • Solar appliances
  • Installation
  • System maintenance (panel, battery and appliances)
  • Solar to grid  electricity generation

The College of biological and physical Sciences launched their fish farm on the 2nd of March 2012. The occasion was graced by members of staff from various Schools within the campus and the Guest of honour was Prof Micheni .J. Ntiba, P.S Ministry for Fisheries Development, also a distinguished member of staff

The ICT Team has schedule to carry out preventive Maintenance of ICT Equipments.

The Offices will be serviced during the week whereas the Computer Laboratories and Network Equipments will  be serviced over weekends for minimum disruption of ICT services.

Please find attached the Maintenance schedule for this period.

In line with Kenya’s Vision 2030, University of Nairobi in collaboration with the Kenya ICT Board, recently introduced a certificate course in Information Technology Enabled Services and Business Process Outsourcing (ITES-BPO).

Two scientists (Drs Lewis Whitehead and Heather Burke) from Norvatis
Institute of Biomedical Research, USA and the co-founder of Seedings Lab,
Dr Nina Dudnik, will visit the Department of Chemistry on Wednesday, 8th
February 2012 and then give a seminar.

Theme:   Popularizing Chemistry With Respect to Vision 2030

The college of Biological and physical sciences launched the strategic plan for the period 2008 - 2013. This was in a meeting chaired by the principal Prof. B. O. Aduda at the CCU conference hall and atended by both teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
